Meet Jadyn Ackerman, a senior at Park City High School and a remarkable example of resilience and kindness. After experiencing cyberbullying that profoundly affected her mental health, Jadyn emerged stronger, committed to fostering positivity within her community. Reflecting on her experience, she recalls, “For weeks, I wouldn’t want to go to school because I didn’t want to see those people… I wish I had talked to someone sooner.” She now encourages others to face challenges head-on, advocate for themselves, and seek support. “Everything seems like a huge deal in the moment, but everything is going to be okay,” she reassures.
As Co-President of HopeSquad, a club dedicated to anti-bullying and suicide prevention, Jadyn channels her experience into supporting her peers and creating a compassionate school environment. HopeSquad trains students in QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) to equip them to recognize and support classmates in need. The club also offers an anonymous reporting system to provide a safe space for students facing similar challenges. Jadyn’s commitment to making every student feel seen and valued underscores her belief that small acts of kindness can inspire others and create a ripple effect of positivity.
This November, during Live Like Sam Day and Kindness Week, HopeSquad will host activities like a positive affirmation wall, a kindness chain, and a kindness pledge to inspire students to spread kindness. Through her work, Jadyn is not only a student leader but also a role model, a compassionate friend, and a force for positive change. Her story is a reminder that a single kind act can influence others, creating a more supportive and caring school community.
